Environmental Event Specialist
Background
Environmental Management Support, a small environmental consulting and communications firm located in downtown Silver Spring, Maryland, is looking for a bright, entry-level professional interested in supporting U.S. EPA training programs. This position is ideal for someone interested in providing technical and logistical support to in-person and virtual training meetings, national workgroup meetings, and other government events. Recent college graduates are encouraged to apply.

EMS seeks a quick learner who is detail-oriented, self-motivated, has excellent writing skills, and is a team player who can also work independently. A four-year degree is required; proficiency in the MS Office 365 suite of applications is highly desirable.

This position is based out of EMS's corporate office in downtown Silver Spring, MD. This role will require frequent travel (at least 50%) to provide meeting and training support, primarily at U.S. EPA office locations in Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Kansas City, Denver, San Francisco, and Seattle.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
This position’s main responsibilities are to assist the EPA’s CERCLA Education Center (CEC) with the development and delivery of courses for its large Training Programs and throughout all 10 EPA regions. Under the oversight of the EMS Technical Leads, this position will assist with:

Course Development Support: Assists the EMS project leads with identifying and incorporating updates into EPA training materials.

Course Planning: Works with course leads to identify AV, meeting room, and logistical needs and coordinates with the course venue to ensure all needs are in place. Gathers all meeting materials prior to the course and works with EMS project leads on shipping course materials.

Course Delivery: Travels to EPA course locations to assist in the delivery of each course, including conducting registration, assisting with AV needs, and coordinating with onsite contacts.

Other projects as time permits.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:

A bachelor's degree in environmental science, communications, or a related field.

0-5 years of work experience, preferably in event planning.

Strong technical writing, editing, and analytical skills.
