Environmental Communications and Events Specialist
Environmental Management Support, a small environmental consulting firm, is seeking a creative, motivated Environmental Communications and Events Specialist to support event planning and execution, communications, training, and stakeholder engagement efforts for U.S. Environmental Protection Agency programs.
In this role, you’ll support the planning and execution of in-person meetings and training events, and the development and maintenance of guidance, training materials, and communication resources that assist EPA staff in implementing community involvement practices.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented writer who excels in planning and executing events with efficiency and accuracy. They take initiative, communicate clearly across teams, and approach challenges with confidence and adaptability. Strong writing, organization, and problem-solving skills are essential for delivering seamless events and high-quality client service.

This is a remote position with required travel.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Working closely with our project manager, you will:

Support the planning, coordination, and on-site execution of in-person events, including assisting with vendor and venue coordination, registration support, development of meeting materials, and onsite support

Support the creation and revision of toolkits and guidance documents, newsletters, meeting summaries, presentations, fact sheets, and graphics

Collaborate with teammates to develop creative ways to communicate research, analyses, and technical information to diverse audiences

Assist with webinar planning and facilitation using platforms such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams

Ensure high-quality, polished deliverables through strong editing and quality control

Travel to support in-person and hybrid meetings and training courses (no more than 25%)
Basic Qualifications:

A bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, environmental studies, or a related field

At least 3 years of experience providing event and communications support to clients or organizations
-
At least 3 years of experience with technical writing and editing
-
Familiarity with community involvement or stakeholder engagement principles
-
Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills
-
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
-
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
-
Strong communication skills and the ability to work with project leadership, clients, and subject matter experts
Preferred Qualifications
-
Experience working with or knowledge of EPA hazardous waste programs, particularly Brownfields and Superfund
-
Experience applying Section 508 accessibility standards to documents

Experience planning and facilitating or supporting meetings, webinars, and virtual meetings

Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud products
-
Proficiency in the Microsoft Office 365 suite of applications

Comfort learning new software and tools over time
